Above/Below
Horizon Space Center

A self-designed project, the Horizon Spaceport / Science Center is intended to take the new, but expensive and exclusive experience of space tourism and make it available to everyone.

The design is focused on the act of crossing the horizon, whether it be literally (in a spaceship) or figuratively. For those who are literally crossing it, the building seeks to make the journey more meaningful and contemplative by providing a setting tailored to the experience, rather than just a departure room. For those who wish to learn more about the universe, the science center creates a journey that mimics the journey into space, beginning at Earth and crossing the horizon into space figuratively. The architecture enhances these experiences by providing the visitor a constant view of the horizon and featuring only fluid surfaces, reflecting the endless nature of space.
